- ➤ Second Harvest Food Bank held a grocery drive outside Elizabethton High School for SNAP recipients facing benefit disruptions – the event used six distribution lines to process hundreds of cars in a few hours. Volunteers from Carter County and local groups helped run the drive, and more events are planned this winter to support families in Northeast Tennessee. WCYB
- ➤ ETSU kicked off its annual Angel Tree initiative to help local children in need this holiday season. The program lets students, faculty & staff choose a child’s tag at a decorated tree in the Carrier Center and return donations by Nov. 18. The East Tennessean

- ➤ Impresión de Cultura: Latine Printmakers is a new show at ETSU’s Tipton-Ashe Gallery. The exhibit runs until November 21 and shows Latinx printmakers using old and new print methods— it celebrates community, heritage and the sharing of cultures. The East Tennessean
- ➤ ESUT grad and Country Music hall of famer Kenny Chesney's memoir Heart Life Music became a New York Times bestseller earlier this month. He will start his promotional tour at his alma mater in Johnson City — a project co-written with award winning journalist Holly Gleason — in the coming weeks. WFHG

- ➤ ETSU unveiled its 2025 limited-edition holiday ornament to celebrate campus tradition and the evolution of Roy S. Nicks Hall—originally the Sherrod Library and now home to nursing and Appalachian studies. The hand-painted ornament by local artists is available for purchase at Bowman Jewelers and gives students and alumni a tangible link to ETSU’s history. The East Tennessean

- ➤ Ballad Health is offering free lung cancer screenings during Lung Cancer Awareness Month to help catch cancer early—low-dose CT scans are available for those at highest risk. WCYB
- ➤ Ballad Health will offer free low-dose CT lung cancer screenings in November for patients who have smoked 20 pack-years and have a physician’s recommendation. The screenings are part of lung cancer awareness month and are supported by the Ballad Health Foundation + aim to catch the cancer early. WCYB
