ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ During the weekend’s Honor Flight Dragon Boat Race in Johnson City, participants had to be fished out of Boone Lake after their boat capsized — officers with the Sheriff's Office Marine Patrol and the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency extracted them near Winged Deer Park with no injuries reported. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ TDOT said the Interstate 26 bridges — damaged by Helene — will fully reopen in one to two weeks as crews finish paving and final touches on the Nolichucky River crossings in Erwin. WCYB
- ➤ City Manager Cathy Ball announced on Monday that Eric Dougherty will become the new chief of the Johnson City Police Department, effective November 4. Dougherty—who has over 30 years of law enforcement experience—will work closely with Chief Billy Church during the transition before Church retires on November 3. WCYB
