CRIME NEWS
- ➤ On Pendelton Smith Road, a woman in an aggravated assault pulled her gun to recover her car keys from 39-year-old Eric Brian Rayon—who choked her as she stopped to help him with his car and left threatening voice mails—and he now faces charges for violating an order of protection plus false imprisonment. - ➤ Washington County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 24-year-old Zachary N. Miller on Sunday after finding multiple dead animals on Cash Hollow Road — he was charged with four counts of animal cruelty and is set to appear in court on Monday. WFHG
- ➤ Eric Brian Rayon, 39, was arrested Friday on Pendleton Smith Road after he allegedly choked a woman who came to help with gas and then she pointed a gun at him, and he now faces charges for aggravated assault, false imprisonment and violating an order of protection. WCYB
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Appalachian Fair opened Monday with live music, rides on the midway and demolition derbies on select nights — workers loaded livestock and displays into the buildings over the weekend as contests took place before exhibits opened at 3 p.m. The fair will run for a full week of festivities. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Milligan University ended six programs—journalism, film, computer science, cybersecurity, information systems and coaching and sports management—and allowed current students to finish their coursework for their degrees as it practices strong fiscal management. WFHG
