  • Johnson City Honda raised over $20,000 in June with its Drive It Forward campaign by donating $50 for every car sold—owner Joe Trujillo said buyers chose from five local charities. The campaign has raised more than $70,000 overall to support local groups in the Tri-Cities.  WCYB

CRIME NEWS

  • A tractor-trailer driver was charged after an overloaded—uncovered trailer lost three crushed cars on Highway 11E beneath the I-81 underpass at Exit 23 while the truck traveled from Knoxville to Johnson City, and Mosheim police confirmed no injuries were reported.  WCYB

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Downtown bar operators in Johnson City have joined forces to oppose a proposed ordinance that would change last call to 1 a.m.—they say the change will reduce revenue and customer traffic and urge the City Commission to explore alternatives at today's first reading.  WFHG

HEALTH NEWS

  • Ballad Health officials reported an increase in Lyme disease cases this summer, with 17 cases reported in June to the Department of Health. Chief Infection Prevention Officer Jamie Swift advised residents to mark the date of any tick bite and watch for symptoms—using light-colored clothing and tick repellent helps spot ticks and prevent illness.  WFHG
