- ➤ A tractor-trailer driver was charged after an overloaded—uncovered trailer lost three crushed cars on Highway 11E beneath the I-81 underpass at Exit 23 while the truck traveled from Knoxville to Johnson City, and Mosheim police confirmed no injuries were reported. WCYB

- ➤ Downtown bar operators in Johnson City have joined forces to oppose a proposed ordinance that would change last call to 1 a.m.—they say the change will reduce revenue and customer traffic and urge the City Commission to explore alternatives at today's first reading. WFHG

- ➤ Ballad Health officials reported an increase in Lyme disease cases this summer, with 17 cases reported in June to the Department of Health.
