  • Young Professionals on Campus is hosting the Flourish Spring Gala on Tuesday, April 22 from 8 to 10 p.m. at Soluna Sage in downtown Johnson City—this event celebrates their first year with formal attire, a DJ, spring-themed snacks and drinks, and a tribute to graduating seniors.  The East Tennessean

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Milligan University is hosting the 2025 AAC Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Championships today at Kermit Tipton Stadium, a three-day event featuring over 500 student athletes. City leaders say the event will boost the local economy with more than $200,000 in direct visitor spending that could reduce property taxes for residents.  WCYB

  • ETSU will extend its annual Day of Giving — now called Forever ETSU — into a week-long celebration from April 21 to April 27 with daily events including Faculty and Staff Day and a Community Celebration featuring free activities on the Basler Center lawn from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Donors can support the university’s mission by contributing to scholarships, student life projects, and other campus programs until Sunday, April 27.  The East Tennessean

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Residents in Sullivan County can contest high property assessments caused by market changes, and Realtor Elaine Crawford said homeowners should first obtain a market study to back up their challenge. The final tax rate will be set when the state provides a certified rate in May—Commissioner Dwight King warned that this could lead to higher property taxes.  WCYB

  • Milligan University is using the three-day AAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Johnson City to show about 30 to 40 recruits the team and the program. Coach Byron Kramer said the meet will let local and international athletes see what the team is like—helping future recruits get a close look at its competitive spirit.  WCYB
  • Earlier this week, the ETSU women’s golf team competed at Solina Golf Course in South Carolina during the SoCon Championship tournament and finished fourth overall—with breakout sophomore Brianna Castaldi placing 29th and teammates Sydney Harz and Alex Crafton finishing 12th and 37th respectively. The team will compete in doubles as they look to bounce back in the remaining days of the tournament.  The East Tennessean
