- ➤ ETSU is hosting the Spring Literary Festival from Tuesday, Apr. 21 to Wednesday, Apr. 22 with workshops, lectures and creative writing sessions. - ➤ Chef Sheridan Nice will lead a four-part Mediterranean cooking series at ETSU on April 23 at the Hutcheson Hall Foods Lab, exploring recipes from France (first session), Italy, Spain, and Croatia for cooks of all levels; enrollment is already full. The East Tennessean
- ➤ ETSU will host its Educator Preparation Career Fair on Apr. 20 from noon to 4 at the Culp Ballroom to help education students connect with local school systems (including Johnson City and Washington County Schools) for networking and job growth. - ➤ The Senate passed a bill that will end Ballad Health’s COPA and ease Certificate of Need rules by June 30, 2028—sending the measure to Governor Lee for final approval. Lawmakers say the changes will boost health care competition while keeping pricing oversight until new players enter. WCYB
- ➤ Johnson City announced Wednesday plans to improve downtown parking. Public Works will convert westbound lanes on West State of Franklin into 26 to 28 spaces and cut eastbound lanes to one per direction — construction will last three to four months and traffic shifts as Downtown Square lot remains open. SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ On Tuesday, Apr. 14, ETSU softball played a doubleheader in Spartanburg—losing 0-5 in the first game and 1-9 in the second. The team will play Wofford in Johnson City on Apr. 18 and 19 to finish their season. The East Tennessean
- ➤ The ETSU men’s golf team placed 7th of 16 at the Tar Heel Intercollegiate tournament in Chapel Hill and will compete at Solina Golf Club in the Southern Conference Championship from Apr. 27 to 29. The East Tennessean
