- ➤ Timothy Blair, 55, was charged with attempted murder after a shooting injured a Johnson City police officer on Wednesday night in the 400 block of South Barton Street — the prosecution seeks to revoke his bond ahead of a March 27 hearing. WCYB

- ➤ ETSU will host the Local Hearts Concert on March 27th at 5 p.m. in the first floor D.P. Culp Student Center Auditorium with six bands playing indie country music. - ➤ The Johnson City Board of Education voted 6+1 on Thursday to offer Erin Slater the superintendent role. Board members will finalize her contract on April 7 so she can begin by July 1 + Slater is the current superintendent at Fort Madison Community School District in Iowa. WFHG
- ➤ ETSU’s Students of Finance Association placed second in the Financial Management Association’s annual Investment Analysis Competition—finishing as one of three finalists out of more than 35 teams nationwide—and presented their report at the Financial Leaders’ Conference. The East Tennessean

- ➤ Tennessee State Route 81 reopened Friday in Washington and Unicoi counties after a 1.1-mile section was rebuilt with guardrail installation, grade work and rock buttresses to remove an hour-long detour for over 5,400 vehicles daily—TDOT advised motorists to drive with caution as maintenance continues.
