  • Former Washington County Sheriff Ron England, who served from 1976 to 1994 and later as a county commissioner, passed away Tuesday after an extended illness. Funeral arrangements are pending.  WCYB
  • Main Street Jonesborough will host its 3rd annual St. Paddy’s Parade on Saturday, Mar. 14 at 11 a.m. beginning at Boone Street and Sabin Drive; the event will feature Celtic-themed floats, live Irish music + Highland Games, a fun run, Highland Cows, local crafters, and free admission.  WFHG
  • Homeowners in Northeast Tennessee affected by Helene may have qualified for USDA home repair grants up to $44,000. The First Tennessee Development District held an informational session yesterday where they explained eligibility rules and the application process to avoid duplicate funding.  WCYB

ECONOMY NEWS

  • A new state report shows childcare costs for many families now exceed college tuition, and lawmakers will discuss possible support measures during the legislative session.
