Fire crews are working to put out a fire at the Carter County landfill that has burned for six days; the blaze looked smaller Tuesday as trucks dumped dirt & pumped river water since the local water system wasn’t enough, and the site remains closed.

State and local officials awarded Bays Mountain Park a $100,000 grant to replace the weathered floating bridge linking Lakeside Trail on the park's reservoir + park manager Megan Krager said the project will begin within the next couple of years while the old bridge remains open.
🏥 Health
Frontier Health Crisis Helpline earned national accreditation for its suicide prevention and crisis care after a nine-month review; accreditation covers leadership and training through August 2028, officials said.
The service, which operates 24/7 and takes calls via (988), helps locals manage holiday stress.
