A new Publix will be built in Boones Creek on a 77-acre plot at the northwest corner of Boones Creek and Christian Church roads — city officials are coordinating road improvements and added amenities to handle extra traffic.

Construction is expected to start in spring 2026 and finish in spring 2027.

JTEKT North America said its Telford plant in Washington County will close permanently in 2026—affecting 136 workers—after a drop in demand for its parts, with shutdown work starting in late April and ending in August.
