- ➤ Food City began its 'Friends and Pets in Need Holiday Food Drive' on November 5 in Blountville—customers buy marked bags with nonperishable food and pet food which they drop in store-front bins. The drive will run through December 31 to support local hunger relief organizations and animal shelters. WCYB
- ➤ Good Samaritan Ministries in Johnson City is preparing meals for Thanksgiving and Christmas and is asking for volunteers & donations of food and supplies to meet a nearly 30% rise in local need, with plans to serve families this holiday season. WCYB
- ➤ WETS public radio is asking for donations as federal funding cuts created a $100,000 annual shortfall — station director Chad Barrett warned the shortfall could lead to job losses and cuts in national programming. WCYB
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ After a weekend fire, King University’s historic Sells Building lost much of its interior and became unsafe — university officials said it will be torn down by the end of November and replaced with a new facility in 18 to 24 months. WCYB
