- ➤ Johnson City's Elks Lodge is asking residents to donate funds to buy at least 500 $17 wreaths for veterans at Mountain Home National Cemetery in this year's Wreaths Across America program. Donations are accepted by check or online until December 13th—Wreaths Across America Day. WCYB
- ➤ Johnson City's Salvation Army cut the ribbon Tuesday on an expansion of its homeless shelter aimed at helping veterans by adding 15 fully furnished rooms with private beds and baths—supported by a federal Veterans Administration grant, local funds, and donations, the new wing offers life skills workshops to help veterans transition to permanent housing. - ➤ A procession will escort fallen EMS technician Fred Kemp to his final resting place on Saturday starting at 11 a.m. from Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home on West Jackson in Jonesborough and proceeding nearly four miles to Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Washington County emergency officials warning of traffic delays + Kemp died one week ago after a fall during a training exercise at Blue Hole nature area in Elizabethton.
