The Salvation Army of Johnson City is seeking bell ringers for its annual Red Kettle campaign from Nov.
14 through Dec. 24—applications are accepted on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between 10 a.m. and noon at its West Walnut Street office, and hiring continues through mid-December with required documentation and background checks.
More than $300,000 in funding from the Tennessee State Museum has been allocated to Washington County sites including Boones Creek Historical Trust, Broylesville Archives and Museum, Hands On Discovery Center, Tipton-Haynes Historical Association, McKinney Center—Jonesborough and the George L. Carter Railroad Museum. The funds follow a $5 million allocation by the General Assembly to support nonprofit and government-run museums.
ETSU will host a free portrait session for cancer fighters and survivors on Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at its health clinic auditorium—where participants will receive 5 to 10 high resolution photos taken with a white backdrop decorated with colorful balloons to honor their strength.
