- ➤ After Hurricane Helene canceled last year's event, the Unicoi County Apple Festival returns to Erwin this Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.—the festival will feature over 420 food and craft vendors, an additional entertainment stage and an expanded children’s area. WFHG

- ➤ Jerry Agan, an agricultural mechanics teacher at Elizabethton High School, was named a $100,000 grand prize winner for Harbor Freight Tools for Schools Teaching Excellence. He will use the funds to buy more tools for his program—he is one of five teachers nationwide to earn the award. WCYB
