  • Johnson City Christmas Parade organizers announced that the parade presented by the Blue Plum Organization will take place December 6 at 10:30 a.m. in downtown Johnson City—registration opens October 1.  WFHG

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Hot Dog Hut in Gray opened on Bobby Hicks Highway and is now serving fresh chili dogs, nachos and chicken salad — the new owner Zac Rasnick said the menu draws from the Kingsport location with a focus on fresh ingredients and affordable prices; the restaurant is open Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.  WCYB

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Niswonger Foundation launched the STEM Flex app to give students, teachers, and parents access to STEM programs and resources. The app (funded by a grant) helps users find STEM camps, clubs, competitions and paths for career exploration.  WCYB

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Johnson City Mayor John Hunter submitted his resignation and officials said Vice Mayor Greg Cox will take over if it is accepted. The board will review the process on Thursday—while police have turned inquiries about online video charges over to the district attorney.  WCYB
