The Appalachian Fair continues tonight as it marks its 100th anniversary with longtime farmer Dwight Loveday showing nearly a dozen of his well-cared-for sheep in the fair exhibits & community praise for the tradition grows.
🎭 Culture
The Food City Watermelon Eating Contest returns to Appalachian Fair today as contestants compete to eat as much watermelon as possible without using their hands.
The contest — a 20-year favorite — is sponsored by Food City and will crown the winner based on who leaves the least fruit behind.
🏛️ Government
The Tri-Cities Airport said it would not renew its contract with Tri-Cities Aviation after a growth agreement could not be reached.
Instead, TRI will operate its own general aviation facility (Holston Point Aviation) to serve the community.
