The Reece Museum at ETSU earned three statewide awards (Block Buster Exhibit, Public Programming, Publication) for its exhibition 'The Place Speaks: Sacred and Artistic Genealogies of Appalachia' that showcases local art and history; this marks the museum’s first triple honor for one exhibit.
🌲 Environment
Eastman Recreation will temporarily close its picnic area, shelters, playground and athletic facilities at Bays Mountain due to increased bear activity after consulting with TWRA.
The picnic area closes Monday, July 27, and the campground closes Monday, Aug. 3 (notification for reopening will follow).
🏈 Sports
Johnson City is hosting the USA Softball One True Nationals this weekend with 47 top youth softball teams from 14 states.
The event sees families staying in hotels and dining at local spots *boosting* the local economy.
