CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Twin sisters Monika and Teresa Schorer from Jonesborough pleaded guilty in March for taking cash bribes from sales representatives and were sentenced to eight months in jail with a $10,000 fine each — they agreed to pay over $426,000 in restitution during a sentencing hearing held in Greeneville on July 23. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Brandon Carpenter, director of schools, said Hampton High students will return to campus in January as construction starts—work will begin with moving dirt and repairs on the main building while plans include rebuilding the wastewater system and adding flood protection for the school and nearby homes. Funding will come from FEMA, the state and potential grants, and work on the football field is planned for next spring after demolishing parts of the campus. WCYB
