Here's your local news at a glance for Saturday, the 18th of July.
Good morning, Johnson City.
🏥 Health
John and Ann Tickle donated $25 million to Ballad Health on Friday, marking the system’s largest philanthropic gift.
Ballad Health officials said they will work with the Tickles to target long-term improvements to local healthcare.
There are no Cyclospora cases in our area, but doctors are warning residents after 44 cases were reported statewide and in 34 states since May (Bactrim treats it in about seven days).
Ballad Health received its largest donation ever when John Tickle plus his wife Ann contributed $25 million to support medical services for Mountain Empire residents, with the health system set to decide on fund use.
The donation follows a $34 million gift to King University to advance scholarships and projects.
