  • A local group in Washington County is helping chained dogs run free by giving free fences to families that adopt shelter dogs in its new '25 in 2025' campaign—designed to offer a second chance for pets. Since 2014, Chain Free Dogs has built over 250 fences and helped nearly 400 dogs, with founder Christy Rabetoy saying the project has improved pet care.  WCYB

  • Local investigators reported that Johnson City officer Connor Cooper turned himself in Friday after being indicted on charges of official misconduct and tampering with government records for turning off his body camera and instructing a trainee during an April 2024 vehicle pursuit + he has been fired and released on a $3,000 bond at Washington County Detention Center in Jonesborough.  WFHG
  • A Lebanon woman, identified as Ashley Creech (32), was arrested by the Unicoi County Sheriff's Office during a traffic stop when police found fentanyl and a stolen ID, and she has been charged with drug paraphernalia, narcotics, and identity theft after her fingerprints revealed outstanding warrants.  WCYB
  • Erwin Police Chief Regan Tilson was placed on administrative leave after failing a breathalyzer test—administered at random—and is contesting the results pending an investigation.  WCYB
