🏛️ Government
TVA is asking for public comment on its new long-range plan (aimed at boosting electricity generation) to meet rising demand from population growth and data centers.
The plan envisions up to a 75% capacity increase by 2040 and invites online feedback before an August vote.
Farmers and forest landowners affected by Hurricane Helene have until Aug.
31 to apply for financial relief. The TDA will host on-site visits in several counties from July 6 to 28 — including Washington, Unicoi, Hamblen, Greene, Johnson, Carter, Hawkins, and Cocke — to answer questions.
