- ➤ BrightRidge announced on Tuesday that its board approved a 2.5% electric rate increase beginning in October—aiming to offset revenue losses from closing industries—and the rate will add about $4.40 a month for a typical customer. WFHG

- ➤ Today, Northeast State Community College recorded its highest summer enrollment with a 19% increase that brought nearly 2,000 students onto campus. College leaders said they will support student success — expecting record numbers in August. WCYB

- ➤ Johnson City Police Officer Sharrell Dykes was named the 2024-2025 Law Enforcement Officer of the Year by the American Legion Department of Tennessee after he rescued eight deputies and one K9 during Hurricane Helene using a special 5 ton military truck+he received his award at a ceremony in Murfreesboro earlier this month. - ➤ The TVA is asking customers to conserve energy as summer heat raises power demands to help avoid grid strain and brownouts. TVA said it has prepared the system with over 500 spring activities and recommends steps like closing curtains + turning off lights to lower usage. WCYB
- ➤ Johnson County opened a new $4.2 million boat ramp at Sink Mountain today—its project includes 15 parking spots for boats and trucks and bathroom facilities, with construction that began in May 2024 and was completed in January. WCYB
