- ➤ Warner Music Nashville artist Chase Matthew will headline the Pepsi Independence Day Firework Celebration at Freedom Hall in Johnson City (with Preston Cooper opening the show). The event will feature a new beauty pageant at 11 a.m. (food trucks available before the concert, a Kid Zone opening at 4 p.m. and fireworks at 10 p.m. with Bristol Broadcasting’s WXBQ on the soundtrack). - ➤ At the Paris Air Show, Howmet Aerospace leaders joined Governor Lee to announce the second expansion of its Morristown plant — a move that will bring 217 new jobs in addition to the 50 announced last year. The company is one of East Tennessee’s largest employers and makes parts for jets and cars. WFHG

- ➤ The Carter County Sheriff’s Office proposed to use restricted funds to buy new equipment for additional officers and help keep taxes low after residents suffered from Hurricane Helene. Sheriff Mike Fraley said the office has secured over $570,000 in grant money since 2022—efforts intended to protect residents from future tax hikes. WFHG
