An Alabama man, Christopher James Havrilla, 52, was arrested in March over a 23-year-old Bristol case and now faces extra charges in Blountville court for the first degree murder of Cody Scott Matney, 24, who was last seen at a West State Street bar in April 2002.

The new indictments—especially aggravated kidnapping—tampering with evidence—abuse of a corpse—and two counts of false reporting have led to his $1 million bond.

A man died after he pulled a gun on a state trooper who responded to a crash on Sunday night along Highway 11-W near the intersection with Highway 394 in Sullivan County, and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is probing the incident at the request of District Attorney Barry Staubus.
