- ➤ Nearly seven months after Helene flooded the area, volunteers clearing debris in Washington County found Steve Cloyd's body—bringing closure to his brother Gary—and the search for missing Nancy Tucker continues. WCYB

- ➤ CSX is working on two railroad projects in our region — maintaining crossings from Pike County to Erwin with closures lasting a few days and rebuilding a line damaged by Helene along the Tennessee/North Carolina border. One bridge has been restored and the second will be rebuilt this fall as environmental groups pursue legal action over CSX’s repair methods. WCYB

- ➤ Authorities in Sullivan County are searching for a Bristol man—43-year-old Robert Lee Farmer—who allegedly fired shots at a Cedar Lane residence on Saturday afternoon with no injuries reported and now faces charges including attempted second-degree murder, reckless endangerment, and handgun possession by a felon. - ➤ Officials from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office confirmed on Saturday that remains found along the Nolichucky River on May 1 belong to Steven Cloyd, one of two flood victims after Hurricane Helene, while Nancy Tucker remains missing. WFHG

- ➤ Today, TDEC has issued a fish consumption advisory for a reservoir in Sullivan County after TVA found high PCB levels in channel catfish. Pregnant women, nursing mothers and children should avoid eating catfish while others limit consumption to one meal per month — warning signs will be posted at public access points. WCYB
- ➤ County and state emergency agencies reported that crews removed 1 million cubic yards or 1.4 million tons of hurricane debris from the Nolichucky River in Greene County as of Friday, though recent rains have delayed the work. Contracted crews expect to finish cleanup within two weeks + the debris will then be chipped and mulched. WFHG
