On April 24, Jonesborough resident Amy Michelle Carder was arrested on Old State Route 34 when deputies discovered two handguns and concealed drugs in her vehicle — she now faces charges of unlawful weapon possession, multiple drug offenses, and contraband in a penal facility, is held on a $10,000 bond, and must appear in court on May 8.

The Telford Road bridge over Brown Branch closed indefinitely on Wednesday morning — the Washington County Highway Department noted that drivers used Matthews Mills Road to detour — and officials said the closure will remain until further notice.

City officials learned during Tuesday’s City Council meeting that the Bristol State Liners will spend their second season at the TVA Credit Union Ballpark in Johnson City while awaiting a new home field in Bristol.
