  • The region marked 15 years since the deadly tornado outbreak that hit Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia on April 27 and 28, 2011, causing widespread damage and 14 deaths (News 5 aired a detailed story on Monday at 6 p.m.).  WCYB

CULTURE NEWS

  • Greeneville natives The Band Perry are set to perform at Hard Rock Live in Bristol on Thursday, Aug. 27 (tickets are available online).  WCYB

ECONOMY NEWS

  • A proposed retail firearms machining center in Mountain City will revitalize a 30,000 sqft building and create over 100 jobs to boost the county's economy for the next decade. Project leaders will secure local and state support as they plan to close on the building tomorrow, April 29.  WCYB

SPORTS NEWS

  • Milligan University earned the top seed in the Appalachian Athletic Conference baseball tournament. Games will run through May 2 at Hunter Wright Stadium in Kingsport, with tickets at $10 per day + tournament passes available for $35 and live streaming via the Southeast Sports Network.  WFHG
