- ➤ Samaritan's Purse is expanding its Helene recovery effort by adding 19 rebuild sites across 4 states, including locations in Tennessee accepting applications for home repairs, new homes, and infrastructure fixes & supporting ongoing recovery. The program has built 26 new homes and helped more than 180 families so far. WCYB
- ➤ The Marsh Regional Blood Center is hosting the Pints for Paws blood drive this week as $10 per pint is donated to area shelters plus donors receive a T-shirt and paw socks. Events are held at Marsh Centers in Bristol, Kingsport and Johnson City with hours varying daily. WCYB

- ➤ Comedian Jo Koy will bring his stand-up tour to Hard Rock Live in Bristol on August 9 at 7 p.m. with social media pre-sale starting April 23 at 10 a.m. & general ticket sales opening on April 24. WCYB
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ ETSU launched its second annual Forever ETSU Week of Giving to support scholarships and academic programs, with themed days and community events planned to help reduce student debt + boost local education. University officials say the weeklong campaign aims to strengthen opportunities for students. WCYB
- ➤ Sullivan County voters will cast their ballots on Tuesday, May 5 for the District 4 school board seat as Todd Broughton and Michael Hughes present plans to boost reading and math scores for local students. WCYB
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Johnson City Public Works will work on a paving project on South Greenwood Drive from West State of Franklin Road to Colony Park Drive starting Monday, with lane closures in effect daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. for about 10 days, so drivers should plan extra time. WFHG
- ➤ The Tennessee Department of Agriculture will open applications for the Helene Agricultural and Timber Relief Fund Wednesday, Apr. 22 at 1 p.m. Eastern for local farmers and forest landowners affected by Hurricane Helene — two webinars on April 23 and April 28 will provide guidance for applicants.
