  • Jersey Mike’s presented a check for over $122,000 to Speedway Children’s Charities today at Bristol Motor Speedway. The funds were raised during its Month of Giving campaign across 12 Tri-Cities stores—exceeding last year’s donation by more than $12,000.  WCYB

  • Crews responded to a report of smoke at Yee-Haw Brewing on April 16th before noon and extinguished a small debris fire outside the building—ventilating it shortly after.  WCYB

  • CSX will temporarily close multiple railroad crossings in the region beginning next month—work on a track resurfacing project is set to begin on May 7.  WCYB

  • Ronnie Miller, 51, confessed during a registry compliance check on Tuesday that he had child porn and was charged with aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor + police are analyzing seized devices and plan further charges.  WCYB

  • About 300 ETSU students and faculty showcased posters, oral presentations, and creative displays at the annual Jay W. Boland Research Day held today in Johnson City — an event that highlighted diverse faculty-student projects — including research from fossil studies to health services.  WCYB

  • Johnson City Mayor John Hunter canceled his planned News 5 interview hours before it was set after community groups called for a town hall on the police department's handling of the Sean Williams case—he said he will consider other formats to include more community input as the city works to address concerns and related lawsuits. The decision came after he met with a group of advocates to discuss ideas for more open communication.  WCYB
