ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Online collections have raised over $6000 for funeral costs for Sullivan East student Lilly Jackson who died in a two-car crash on Tuesday, with funeral services set for March 25 at Rooty Branch Church + another student was injured in the accident.  WFHG

CRIME NEWS

  • Johnson City Police Department said the officer (shot last week on South Barton Street) was released from the hospital Monday afternoon and will recover at home; the accused shooter (Timothy D. Blair) has been charged with attempted murder.  WFHG

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Members from the Department of Education visited Tennessee High on Tuesday morning to see therapy dog Jingle — a Goldendoodle in training — work in the new dog grooming program that gives students hands-on career skills; Jingle is on track for full certification as a service animal while participating in the Animal Science class.  WCYB

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Johnson City Planning and Development Services Department is asking residents and visitors to take an online survey for a downtown parking study. Drones will be deployed from March 27 to March 29 — the data collected will shape plans for safer, more efficient parking downtown.  WCYB
