EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Northeast State Community College received a $233,000 grant from the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development to boost the rural healthcare workforce in East Tennessee. The grant will run from July 1st, 2025 — June 20th, 2026 and will fund short-term training programs to prepare students for jobs such as Certified Clinical Medical Assistant and Pharmacy Technician. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On March 15th at 8:30 p.m., Johnson City firefighters responded to a wildfire at Buffalo Mountain City Park and battled a 4-acre blaze for three hours despite high winds and steep terrain—fifteen firefighters with help from the Tennessee Division of Forestry and the Embreeville Volunteer Fire Department contained the fire with no injuries reported. Crews began debris removal and damage assessment, and access to the affected area remains restricted for safety. WCYB
