- ➤ Eastman Credit Union employees raised $58,000 for nine organizations through its Casual for a Cause campaign by donating a dollar per paycheck that ECU matched — the initiative supports charities in communities including Johnson City and Kingsport. WCYB
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ On Wednesday, a 7-year-old left Union Primary School unsupervised and was later found safe by his aunt a few hundred yards away. School officials reviewed dismissal procedures and added extra staff at exits starting at 3:00 p.m. to improve student safety. WCYB
- ➤ ETSU was named among the top midsize employers nationwide by Forbes Magazine. It ranked 71st based on employee survey responses on salary, work environment, benefits, and opportunities and was the only East Tennessee employer on the list. WFHG
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Local school districts and public charter schools gained flexibility on Thursday, Feb. 12 when the Tennessee House passed a bill allowing campuses to display founding documents including the Ten Commandments and the Constitution. A companion measure will be considered in the Senate in coming weeks. WCYB
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Thirteen patients were admitted to Ballad Health hospitals after slightly elevated carbon monoxide levels were detected at ETSU Health Family Medicine Bristol clinic on Tuesday afternoon; staff immediately evacuated the building and alerted emergency services. WFHG
